Everyone's afraid to use the "R" word.
I cannot stop thinking about the new legislature passed in Virginia this week. I brought the issue up to a well meaning friend who said, “what does it matter? Aren’t the abortions they’re trying to get invasive too?”
I was dumbstruck. I had no idea how to respond, and my loss of words caused a shift in the conversation.
This stuck with me, and I sat and stewed for days....

All I got for Valentine's Day were two holes in my...
They decided to do the extraction with local anesthetic instead of putting me under. The x-rays implied that it would be a simple procedure, with both teeth having only one root and growing upwards out of the gums. I totally understand why they used local. Unfortunately, the x-rays were hiding something sinister.
The tooth on my left side had not one root, like a normal wisdom tooth, but three....

Me: It's inappropriate, and creepy on my part. Plus, aren't you 12?
Student 1: Yeah. So what?
Me: Well, Facebook terms and conditions say that you have to be 13 to join. You're not even legally old enough to be on Facebook.
Student 2: Pfft, we've had Facebooks since we were in the 5th grade.
Me: Looks like we've got a bunch of rebels.

Jameson Whiskey Advertisements are the Best
It all started with a giant Octopus, a color elevated mood that wets any Portlander’s panties whistle,* and the best era of clothing (if you ignore the health risks of whale bone corsets.) I hate hate hate microteaching.
Microteaching = when we teach a lesson we created in front of our peers, pretending that they’re our students.
I always feel so prepared and then it hits me.
Again I talked down to my “students.” It’s weird, because I can feel myself doing it, but I can’t seem to stop it. I feel so uncomfortable and disjointed while I’m in front of my peers..
